Results of what? Ok, so I used to race triathlons. “Professionally”. That’s in quotes because I always thought of something one does professionally to mean that, well, it’s their profession. Their job. They can buy stuff with their paychecks. But I did it as more of a serious hobby, and then I guess I was lucky enough (ok, yes some skill, but some luck I think, too) to have door after door open until I qualified near the end of 2010 to get my pro membership . (You must qualify and apply for a license to race in the elite category). Here are the results of seven years of my life. Wow, doesn’t that seem a bit trite. I raced in a total of 13 Ironman-distance races and countless shorter distances. My most notable accomplishments (or maybe just the ones I liked the best) are listed below.
Now they are kind of like grades on a high school report card: they seemed so important at the time but now that the years are passing and I’m seizing the opportunity for so many other experiences, the numbers begin to fade into the past as semi-foggy memories of hard work and satisfaction rather than sharply-focused trophy images to cling to. And, just like grades, no one really cares as much as you thought they would about those numbers after a fairly short amount of time. The lasting stuff are those things you grow from; what you build into your character. Numbers represent a lot of work but are pretty irrelevant when it comes to real life.
Regardless, here’s my brag-list 😉
